Arbaaz Khan and Rajeev Khandelwal unveil IJPL trophy

In a Press Conferece held at Le Méridien in Delhi, IJPL unveiled the trophy for the inaugural edition of one of the most famous talent hunt program of the world. Actor Arbaaz Khan and Rajeev Khandelwal, who are also the owners of Mumbai Masters and Rajasthan Roarers respectively, were present at the venue along with the Managing Director of the league, Dr Dinesh Kapoor.

The kits of all the 16 franchises were also launched during the event.

The two owners were proud to be a part of the tournament which is giving the youngsters such a big platform to showcase their talent.

The Indian Junior Players T20 League is one of its kinds of talent-hunt programme, which saw 55000 budding cricketer fill the application form. It is a T20 tournament involving 16 franchises and will be played in Dubai.

The first edition of the IJPL will witness 16 franchises who are being backed by some of the heavyweights from the entertainment industry and sports. Film-maker and actor Arbaaz Khan who has championed the promotion of sports in the past also, comes on board as the proud owner of Mumbai franchise, the Mumbai Masters, while actor Rajeev Khandelwal who is known for reinventing acting roles and an avid cricket fan, is the owner of the Rajasthan franchise, the Rajasthan Roarers. Promoting and sharing cricket tips with the young cricketers on the IJPL Talent Hunt arena will be three iconic mentors – star cricketer Gautam Gambhir, South African ace Jonty Rhodes and West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard.

On this occasion, Dr Dinesh Kapoor, Managing Director, IJPL Talent Hunt, said, “The Indian Juniors Players League T20 has been inspired by the relentless passion and love that our young people have for cricket. IJPL’s aim is to support the talent across India, especially the underprivileged children playing in the gulleys and slums and give them state-of-the-art facilities and international exposure so that their dreams can take flight. The 240 players representing the franchises from 16 States are the ambassadors of Indian cricket. I’m confident that IJPL Talent Hunt will fire the imagination of millions of young cricketers and we will live up to the grand vision of our beloved Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji and promote Khelo India effectively and in the right spirit.”

Mr Arbaaz Khan, owner of Mumbai Masters, said, “The entire concept of boosting the passion and cricketing dreams of young Indian cricketers from underprivileged  background and providing them an international platform to perform, struck a special chord in my heart. Mr Rajeev Khandelwal, owner of Rajasthan Roarers, said, “The IJPL Talent Hunt is probably the only one of its kind league in the country which is promoting genuine talent from the hinterlands and slums and providing them world-class platform to showcase their prowess. I congratulate Dr Dinesh Kapoor for his brilliant concept to promote our youth’s talent. Imagine 240 of these young players playing in Dubai’s International Cricket Stadium! The players for the IJPL Talent Hunt 16 franchises were selected on the basis of extensive trials conducted over three days each at a slew of talent-hunt camps which were held under the guidance of qualified and accredited coaches to unearth genuine talent from small towns and cities in as many as 23 cities in 16 States across India

All the IJPL Talent Hunt matches will be held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium to provide world-class ambience and cricket experience to the young cricketers and the matches are expected to reach the fans via live streaming. The teams reaching the semifinals and final will benefit from playing under the special floodlights arrangement at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, which is aptly described as the ‘Ring of Fire’.

The young guns will have plenty at stake in the path-breaking IJPL Talent Hunt as the 16 franchises will slog it out for the winner’s trophy and the champions will take home a prize money of INR 21 lakh and the runners-up will get INR 11 lakh. Besides, the man of the tournament will be sent to play in minor county cricket in the UK. The 16 teams are scheduled to fly to Dubai from their nearest airport and the players will be staying at the Ghaya Grand Hotel which is located in the vicinity of the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
